Helpful Tips for a Successful Spring Cleaning

Before we know it, the sun will be shining, the birds will be chirping, and spring will officially be here!

With this season of renewal, that means it will be time to get your home clean as you beautify your space. Are you ready for that type of commitment?
If you feel like you might not be ready for all the cleaning this spring, here are few helpful tips you should try this year:

Clean or Replace Filters

One of the first things to be checked in your home should be your HVAC system’s air filter. Over the past few months, your system could have been working overtime and became quite bogged down with dust and debris. Remove the filter and try to clean it with a vacuum. If that doesn’t get it clean, replace them easily.

Scrub Your Windows and Window Treatments

Now that the sun is shining more brightly, it’s a lot more challenging to ignore the dirt, rain, snow, and fingerprints that have wreaked havoc on our windows. Make your window cleaning job less difficult by investing in the appropriate tools, including cotton  cleaning cloths for a streak-free, lint-free finish.

Clean your Walls and Ceilings

When it comes to your home’s walls, would you rather paint them or just clean them instead? Cleaning them is the easier choice of course! Cleaning your home’s walls will definitely give you that clean feeling for your home that you’re seeking. For a cleaner look, avoid streaking by drying the walls as you go with lint-free cleaning cloths.

Vacuum and Flip your Mattresses

Take your vacuum and suck up any dust – and dust mites – to help avoid allergies and lengthen the life of your mattress. Unless you have a new no-flip mattress, this is also an ideal time to flip and rotate your mattress. As a helpful tip, flip and/or rotate it twice a year, with the clock change, so you don’t have to ponder when you last did it.

Deep clean the freezer

If you have a manual defrost freezer, this is the excellent time to unplug it and let that ice melt away. Once it’s completely defrosted, clean out any crumbs and scrub any food-born spots before returning the contents. You may also want to set in a little dish of baking soda to soak up any lingering odors.

Refresh the Refrigerator

Take a look at what you currently have in your fridge and throw away bad or questionable items, and wash all shelves and drawers with lukewarm, soapy water (when in doubt, throw it out!). If you have the time, also clean the outside to enhance the clean feeling of your home.
